Privacy
The short version: what you type into the calculators stays on your device, the site sets no cookies, and the only things it counts are page views and a few clicks, with no IP address kept.
What you type stays in your browser
The calculator and the compare tool run entirely in your browser. The price, dates and answers you enter are worked out on your device and are not sent to any server. When you change an input, the page's address updates so you can bookmark or share the case; that address stays on your device unless you share it.
No cookies, no advertising, no accounts
The site sets no cookies and uses no browser storage. It has no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts. There are no accounts. The one form that sends anything is the contact form, described below.
Visitor statistics
The site counts visits with Umami, an open source statistics tool, self-hosted by the publisher. It counts page views and a few events: the first change you make in a calculator (with the place it is set to), clicks on a guide's "Run your own numbers" button, and sending the contact form.
Umami sets no cookies, uses no browser storage and does not store your IP address. Its script and the address it reports to are both served from this domain, so your browser contacts no other site. What it keeps are counts: which pages were viewed, from which referring site, and the browser, device type and country. It records each page without the part of the address after the question mark, so the prices and answers a calculator link carries are not counted.
The contact form
When you send the contact form, your message, your email address, your name if you give one, and the page you name go by email to the publisher, Hatim Rih, through Resend, an email delivery service. The site's server passes them on and does not store them. If you would rather not use the form, write to contact@buyingcosts.com.
What your browser loads
Your browser loads the page, its stylesheet, its fonts and its scripts (the menu, the calculator where there is one, and the statistics script), all from this site. Nothing is loaded from any other host. Links to official sources open those sites only when you follow them, and their own privacy terms apply there.
Server logs
Like any web server, the host that serves these files may keep standard request logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for running and securing the service. The site itself does not read or combine them.
